Dear Kitah Zayin families,
*We finalized our immigration unit with a new, The New Colossus poem. The students thought about people who continue to immigrate to the United States and added their own final welcoming lines. (See attached or our bulletin board.)
*After WWII, Frank Tashlin wrote an allegory about how we each see ourselves as individuals, but we often see others as part of a group. The students created identity charts listing some of the ways they define themselves. After sharing some of our attributes, it was evident to all that we should recognize and appreciate each other as unique, multi-faceted individuals.
*The students met with Rabbi Jaech and the Confirmation class as they returned from their trip to Washington D.C. They told us about the opportunity to gather with large groups of Reform Jewish teens to have fun, explore D.C. and lobby our representatives on the Hill about the issues that most interested them, including reproductive health, climate change, voting rights and disability rights.
**The final Midnight Run for this year will be Saturday March 9th. Students should collect the required clothing, gather at 1:00 at temple to sort, then return to temple at 8:00 to board the van. Please be sure to RSVP for this trip ASAP!
