Summary |
Dear Kitah Dalet families,
After learning about the Ten Commandments, I introduced the students to the different ways of classifying these mitzvot. One way is to separate them into positive and negative mitzvot. (You shall..or you shall not.) Another way is to classify mitzvot according to those that involve actions between people and those that are between a person and God. Our 9-10 year olds had very strong opinions about how they wanted to classify "The Ten" and then they individually ranked them in order of importance. While some felt that "Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy" others thought "You shall have no other gods beside me" or "Honor your mother and father" should top the list! Everyone then had a chance to play "Ten Commandments ping pong catch!"
The students continued to practice the songs we will sing at BethEl Nursing and Rehab on March 24. Mr. Chazdon continued to teach them new verses of his song, "I Saw Rabbi Hillel." Ask your child what the song is about and what the ma at Hillel's door wanted to learn while standing on one foot!
We have a 2 week break from class. I look forward to seeing everyone March 3, 2019!
l'shalom,
Morah Betsy Deckert
Shalom Kitah Dalet Parents,
In our 17th Ivrit class our Daletniks:
Reviewed the connection between Mi Khamokha and the Maccabean revolt leading to the holiday of Hanukkah;
Did a special art project in which they juxtaposed pictures of the parting of the Sea of Reeds with those of the Maccabean revolt;
Sharpened their decoding and comprehension of Mi Khamokha at the learning stations and
Received the next, and final, assignment for Mi Khamokha, developing the concept of three-letter roots—the key to Hebrew comprehension. Click here for the assignment.
