Summary |
Shalom, Kitah Dalet Parents,
I told our Daletniks that I was very pleased, overall, with the quality of the homework turned in last week. In our 9th Ivrit session our Daletniks
- reviewed the 6 letters and 1 vowel introduced last session;
- reinforced their Hebrew decoding at the learning stations;
- learned about the “double-duty” dot; the use of the Ho-LAM Ha-SEIR vowel ( ֺ ) as both a Shin or Sin dot and an [oh] sound;
- began study of new letter Vav (ו), which can serve both as a letter with a [v] sound and as part of a vowel with dots (וֹ and וּ); you might want to check their understanding of this.
- learned that every letter in a Ivrit word must have a vowel, with certain exceptions;
I was pleased to see that most students are showing interest and making progress. If your child is having challenges keeping up but likes being online you might want to try this online Hebrew reading tool: http://russelneiss.com/hebrew/ . For a more challenging “work-out” let him/her try this one: www.behrmanhouse.com/click-and-read-free .
SAVE THE DATE Information will be coming your way soon about our Dec. 9 class Hanukkah program, followed by an all-school program. I want to let you know now that we will also have a food collection that day to benefit the Croton Caring Committee and the good work they do, supplying the needy and the elderly with holiday food baskets. On the following page is a list of food donations they want the most. I’ve been told by the director that the most valued item is Progresso soups, due their nutritional value. I will deliver the donated food personally soon after our class program. You can find out more about this wonderful organization in our own back yard at their website: http://crotoncaring.org/ . You might want to start making small purchases of the weekly grocery store specials!
L’shalom till next time!
