Summary |
Dear Kitah Dalet Families,
*We started the day in the warm sanctuary led by Rabbi Pein's visual tefillah and Mr. Chazdon's joyful guitar. Rabbi Pein talked about this week's parsha in which Abraham and Sarah welcomed guests to their tent, teaching us the importance of welcoming others. Rabbi also told us that we will have special guests to welcome next week from the IDF/ Israeli Defense Force.
*In class, we reviewed our BE A MENSCH vocabulary and added a new middah/value to our list: emet/ truth. We read about Rabbi Shimon and his compassionate students who bought him a donkey to lighten his load. Ask your children what they found and what they decided to do in their 'moment of choice.'
*The students then looked at some modern day situations and decided what they would do in the 'moment of choice.' We talked about 'stacking middot/values' by thinking about being both honest and compassionate when the need arises. We had a friendly stacking competition and everyone was clearly a winner based on the cheering, giggles and smiles!
*The students should now be looking for opportunities to be a mensch at home, at the park and in school. We will start adding stickers to our class BE A MENSCH chart next week.
*The students brought home their class photo book. It has a page for each classmate as well as a class list at the end to facilitate carpools and playdate gatherings. If your child left early or was absent, they will get the booklet next week.
b'shalom,
Betsy Deckert
Shalom Kitah Dalet Parent,
In our 6th Ivrit session our Daletniks
- reviewed recently studied letters and vowels;
- had a thorough, paper and pencil assessment of their grasp on letters and vowels. I will score these as soon as I can and give the students and parents feedback.
- moved forward in our Alephbet review to three more letters and their finals: צ/ץ and , נ/ן ,כ/ך
- and received the next home assignment involving those new letters.
Next session we will be back to learning stations and Hebrew Through Movement.
L’shalom,
Lane Chazdon
